Artist Statement
Influenced by my background in psychology, I see art as a transformative tool for emotional exploration. This perspective drives my focus on the dualities of human relationships—being both beneficial and harmful—which I explore through a combination of painting, sculpture, photography, and performance. I work with a range of materials, including resin, foam, clay, and joint compound, shaping them into three-dimensional sculptures before recreating them through painting and photography. These varied textures and forms invite viewers to see themselves in the work—both literally and metaphorically—encouraging a personal, emotional connection. Through this process, abstract forms emerge from darkness, evoking shifting landscapes, microscopic worlds, or entirely unrecognizable spaces—each infused with raw emotional energy. Rather than depicting literal scenes, my work distills complex emotional experiences into color and form, creating a space where viewers can project their own feelings and narratives. I believe the true art lies in this exchange—where personal reflection meets universal emotion. By engaging with these multidimensional pieces, viewers don’t just interpret imagery; they step into an emotional landscape, transforming passive viewing into a deeply introspective experience where their own emotions collide with the universal human condition.
